2018 saw the release of nearly 3100 Android devices with Google Play support

In 2018, about 3100 Google Play-certified Android devices were released and there are many interesting subgroups that showcase some of the biggest trends of the past year. For example, in the tablet market, which many manufacturers didn’t even continue to launch one from their catalog, because of the massive Tablet sales decline in 2017 (OEMs) left behind, still managed to have 664 new Android devices, just over 21% of the total. With, for example, Samsung Galaxy Tab S4.

The application store and other Google Play content reported on the results of 2018. The service counted how many new Android devices were registered in the past year. Various vendors presented about 3100 devices on the Android OS with Google Play certification, of which 664 devices are tablets.

A total of 22 devices were powered by the Flagship Snapdragon 845 processor SoC, and 121 devices had more than 4 GB of RAM. 41 devices received an official update to Android 9.0 Pie, which is certified by Google.

Xiaomi introduced 20 new Android devices, including TVs, and Huawei presented 31 smartphones or tablets. Although, Samsung managed to launch even more: the South Korean company launched 53 devices on the market including all its flagship and mid-range smartphones.

It should be noted that these statistics are still incomplete: because only the devices that have registered Google Play certification and installed Google Play Store were considered and added in the list. Many Chinese manufacturers produce smartphones designed for the domestic market without Google services.

It should be noted that very few handsets were launched in 2018 that came with top-of-the-line specs, even given that they are always in the limelight. Statistics on Snapdragon 845 show this, as they do not add 1% of the total devices that own it, while only 4% of them had more than 4 GB of RAM.
