Google Assistant icon now on Google.com mobile homepage

Google Assisstant is present wherever you have your device connected to Google and the net. You can trigger Assistant in several ways including saying “Ok Google”, tapping and holding the home button or using the icon in the Google search bar.

Now there’s one more way to open Assistant – go to the Google.com mobile homepage and tap the icon placed on the top right, next to the app list and notification bell, and there you have the Assistant activated.

There had been a tip about this icon back in November 2018 but it was unverifiable for the most part. At present, there have been more tips about it. Advanced Android phones seem to support this new icon.

Many users say that this icon is just a toggle for Assistant, while some hope that an online version of Assistant would enable phones which don’t have a built-in Assistant to access Assistant by going to Google.com. That would include iPhones without the app installed, older Android phones and tablets, non-GMS-certified devices, and even feature phones, so that their users would be able to enjoy at the very least the basic facilities of Google Assistant. It is hoped that Google would spread Assistant’s reach further in the near future.
