Asus education focused Chrome-powered Laptops and Tablet launched ahead of CES 2019

This CES 2019 event in Las Vegas is just around the corner, and before the big event could take place, Asus has launched its four rugged Chromebooks which include the company’s first Chrome OS-powered tablet. The new Chromebooks all focus on the education market with durability in mind and ASUS’ new line of touch Chromebooks, which includes a tablet will be rolling out to fulfill all educational requirements.

The devices include; ASUS Chromebook C204, Chromebook C403, Chromebook Flip C214 convertible, and ASUS Chromebook Tablet CT100; the company’s first-ever tablet based on the operating system.

The Chromebook Tablet CT100 is the smallest amongst the other devices, the Chromebook Tablet CT100 has a 9.7-inch touchscreen and is supposed to be protected against drops by its rubberized chassis and tempered glass display. It is embedded in a rugged frame measuring 238.8 x 172.2 x 9.9mm thin and weighing just over one and a quarter pounds to better accommodate the small hands of the younger users as for whom it is designed for. A garaged stylus is included in that black and grey-colored frame, in addition to a forward-facing 2-megapixel HD camera and a 5-megapixel rear-facing primary snapper.

The Asus Chromebook C204 and Chromebook C403 are the laptops, shipping with HD (but not full HD) displays, Intel Celeron processors and touchscreens. Both are rugged processors that’ll get the job done and take few hits without being too flashy. The C204 is smaller, coming with an 11.6-inch display, while the C403 is a 14 inch, for students who need larger screens.

Lastly, Asus has also unveiled a convertible Chromebook device just ahead of CES 2019. The Chromebook Flip C214 is a 2-in-1 with a rugged design and keyboard similar to the Chromebook C204. Asus claims the hinge on its convertible Chromebook is highly durable. The Chromebook Flip C214 also supports a stylus and includes a slot to store the stylus when not in use.

Asus claims all these devices feature ‘military-grade’ toughness, and so should be suitable for an army of 5-year olds. It ships with the Op1 hexacore processor a 4 GB of RAM, so it’s unlikely you’ll be running any complex Linux or play store apps, as given to the target audience.
